O.J. Beer

Delicious Things You Can Make With a Can of Beer

After a big event, party or the holiday season, you may notice that you have a few random cans or bottles of beer left behind. Why not whip up a delicious dish in the kitchen instead of letting these lonely beers sit in the back of your fridge?
We've rounded up a list of our favourite recipes (which all feature O.J. Beer of course) that will tempt you into having beer for dinner (without resorting to a liquid diet!).
1. Beer Can Chicken

Don't have a roasting rack? No problem - just place your chicken on the top of an open can of beer. The steam from the bubbling beer will flavour the chicken from the inside out all while keeping the chicken super moist and delicious!

The best beer to pair with this recipe is  a matter of personal preference. But we recommend trying an O.J. Pilsener, which is not too hoppy or bitter.

2. Beer Bread

Bread is made from yeast. Beer is made from yeast. So why not combine the two! These recipes are usually quick and simple and come together in just one bowl, and take less than an hour to make from start to finish. Want a tip? Add a sweet taste with the addition of honey and make sure your top is crispy and golden by brushing butter on the bread before putting it in the oven. The strength of the beer chosen will determine the flavour of the bread, so choose wisely! For a mild beer flavour in your bread, we recommend using O.J. Blanche. For stronger beer taste, try one of the seven O.J. Strong Beers.

3. Beer Battered Fish Tacos

Crispy beer-battered fish tacos are absolute heaven in a tortilla, piled with a spicy salsa and creamy guacamole. And does beer make batter crispy? Yes, when making fried fish, using a bubbly beer batter instead of heavy, gloppy batter is a great way to maintain the crispy and light texture. Natural sugars in the beer contribute to the crisp golden-brown hue of the beer battered crust. Use an O.J. Pilsener or even one of our O.J. Fruit Beers for a tropical fruity flavour. The fruit beers are usually lighter, more refreshing beers that have a fruit flavour.

4. Beer Cheese Dip

Beer cheese dip is a classic bar food made mainly of cream cheese, cheddar cheese and beer. You can also add some additional flavours such as bacon or onion. Feel free to experiment with the style of beers you use. However, we suggest trying one of the seven O.J. Strong Beer so give you that boozy flavour hit.

These beer based cooking ideas are seriously good, don’t knock ‘em ‘til you try ‘em! If you decide to get creative in the kitchen with O.J. Beer, let us know! Tag us on your images on social media and let us know for a feature on our page. Cheers!
